A Glimpse of His Glory
A few years ago I had an incredible God moment. I walked downstairs with my little one to have my Bible study and to nurse in the quietness of the early morning. As I settled into my spot on the couch, I glanced up to admire the glow of the newly rising sun.
I set out my study, opened my Bible, got baby situated and looked out again and noticed some beautiful cloud formations. I started to pray with my eyes fixed on the clouds. My heart spoke out, “Show me your glory in a new fresh way this morning, Lord.”
Thinking that the clouds painted with pink and gold were sufficient enough, I closed my eyes. Then I heard a small rumble. Not knowing if it was just a truck going by or not, I opened my eyes. I felt drawn to the windows. So, I stood up, holding my nursing baby close to me, and stepped outside. The sky was perfectly clear except for the clump of cloud directly in front of me. All the sudden, there was lightening. The flashes came and went for about thirty minutes followed by small rumbles. It was so amazing to me, I just sat outside with my little one and watched as God blessed me with my very own little display of His might and glory.
I had tried to catch a shot of the lightening with my camera. But much to my dismay, my reflexes just weren't fast enough to capture it. But I was so blessed to see how God had answered my prayer that morning.
When I previewed the pictures I had just taken, that's when I noticed it — a little pink heart right in the center of the clouds. I looked up from my camera with fresh eyes to see the detail that I had missed in my personal lightening show. I was so focused on the flashes that I almost missed it. Yet, there it was. As I looked closer at the clouds, the center of the cloud was swept downward (probably producing a slight drizzle on the homes below) and produced an image that looked like a pink heart.
When I went inside finally, I opened up my Bible and it fell open to Isaiah 6. Then I read, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” v3 What a wonderful morning of worship!
It would have been fun to capture the lightening on film. I learned that human (and shutter) reaction time are not fast enough to capture lightening. But as you look at the pictures above (and imagine how beautiful the lightening was through these clouds), remember that no matter how low the stock market drops, no matter how crazy the political climate, no matter how busy life is and no matter what stress is sitting on your shoulders, God is Mighty and is ultimately in control. His hand is loving and precise. He hears our cries and the whispers of our hearts. He is our Emmanuel, God with us. Prepare your hearts afresh today to see the beauty and the blessings that are so often missed as we rush through our days. Don't miss the moments He has set right before our eyes. Open your eyes to Him and His glory.
Lovely story! It’s amazing when God does cool things like that! He loves each one of us so fully and in such personal, unique ways. 🙂 Thank you for sharing that moment with us! 🙂
How can anyone say there is no God with all of the beauty he has created.
Love you Carol
