HOME ORGANIZATION
Home management (or homemaking–whatever you'd like to call it) didn't come naturally for me at first. I was constantly trying to figure out how to juggle family life and homeschooling–and still stay on top of the house. I began to search for more efficient ways to do things. I read books, searched the internet, asked friends and family members who I noticed seemed to keep their house in order most of the time. I “gleaned” and I “gleaned.”
Through the years I “tweaked” what I learned and figured out some great systems for getting organized — and making my house a home. Organization is a passion of mine, but not necessarily an area that I have perfected. I used to be really organized. I still have many systems in place and labels in my pantry (although many have peeled off—hopefully not eaten). The difference now is that it’s hard to stay ahead of the clutter. I have five little clutter creators. Okay, seven! My husband and I can create our own fair share of clutter (me more than him, if I’m being honest).
That's all to say that I get it. It's hard for me too. So, I hope you'll find encouragement here and that you will glean from what is shared and tweak it to work in your own home.
FUN FACT:
I started blogging as a way to share my pages and pages of notes on home organization! I'd been speaking on the subject and had so many people asking me for my notes that I started writing…and writing…and writing.
Years ago I was asked to speak on how to stay organized when you have young children in the house. At the time my two oldest were only toddlers. I put together 10 basic rules that still hold true today. I dreamed of writing a book all about how I was able to dig myself out of some really hard time by being more intentional in my home. All these years later (and lots more experience with managing mayhem)…my dream has come true!!
My New Book:

Here Are a Few of My Favorite Books on Homemaking!
This is where I try to appear like a normal person, but really, truly deep inside I know I'm not. If you ask me what I like to read in my spare time, I'm usually not reading anything fiction. In fact, the books I most enjoy are books on getting organized and homemaking. I literally savor every chapter. I circle and underline things. I make notes in the margin about ways to implement it in our home. Total organization junky here! I am confessing it to you now. I'm weird—and can admit it!
A Few Books From My Friends!
The books above are some of my very favorite books that have helped me tremendously. However, I have a few more books to recommend, too. Here are a few books that some of my blogging friends have written. I highly recommend them.
