We love celebrating St. Patrick's Day! Of course, in our house it is known as “Clover Day!” Now we still honor and appreciate the amazing life and ministry that Mr. Saint Patrick had. However, we love a holiday that is “all things clovers” around here!
Last year, I wrote about some of our “Clover Day” traditions (see it here) and the fun recipes that we were going to try — well, we found a winner!! Lucky Charms Treats!
I really can't believe that we had never made them until last year. I guess I was just too lazy simply pouring Lucky Charms into a bowl with some milk. But, wow! I am never going back now! Since I only buy Lucky Charms one time a year, I'm going to get the most fun out of that one box!
These festive treats really can be made any time of the year. If you are studying rainbows, Ireland, missionaries, or just colors in general, these bars would be a great addition to your themed studies.
They are really easy to make, too! (Bonus!) Think Rice Krispy Treats and insert Lucky Charms!
It's really this simple…
Here's the official recipe that we used (with a bit of tweaking to get thicker treats):Print
These delicious “Clover Day” treats are a must-try! They are easy to make & yummy to eat! Your whole family is going to love them!
- 9 cups Lucky Charms
- 6 cups Marshmallows
- 6 Tbsp. Butter, melted
- Measure out ingredients.
- Mix marshmallows and melted butter in a pot until melted and sticky (don't over cook)-remove from heat
- Stir Lucky Charms into the gooey mix (*Don't over mix or your cute marshmallows will melt!)
- Press into a 9×13 pan using a slightly buttered plastic baggie over your hand
- Slice using a buttered knife once they are cooled and harden up a bit
Tips: Don't over mix the hot marshmallows with the Lucky Charms or you'll start to melt the fun shaped marshmallows.
This recipe is 1 1/2 of a normal recipe to get thicker “treats.” If you want less or thinner goodies, just use 6 cups cereal, 4 cups marshmallows, & 4 Tbsp. butter
Bonus: Believe it or not, this is a gluten-free treat. I can't say that it's sugar-free or healthy in any way. But if it helps you justify eating them, go with it. 🙂
Lucky Charm Treats are fun and tasty treats that can make an ordinary day special — or a special day like “Clover Day” extraordinary!
