Online Grocery Shopping with VONS for the Win!
Having the flu twice in only five months stinks! My whole family got it in January just following my niece's wedding. It was so bad that it was almost funny. We all went down one at a time on the same day. My husband even got it on that same day when he was traveling. Crazy! Normally, you'd think, “Well, at least that's behind me.” But the flu is not like the chicken pox, not that you can't occasionally get the chicken pox twice. However, I really thought that it was kinda a “one and done” thing in a flu season. Then we started hearing stories from friends that they were getting the flu and colds several times this season. Not cool! So, I guess I should have seen the writing on the wall. I'm pretty sure I picked this baby up when I went in for my first physical in ages. Here I was thinking I was making a good healthy choice by checking up on my health. I got a clean bill of health, but then must have touched something somewhere. Who knows where I picked this up. But pick it up I did. I got that stomach flu…again! The silver lining on it all is that the “stomach” part of this flu only lasted for one day. However, the fever, chills, aches, and pain that go along with the flu have not stopped. Lame! The one bummer was that we were pretty low on food. We'd been making it by with what we had, but we were very due for a grocery run. I kept thinking that I'd feel well enough to shop “the next day.” But each new day only left me realizing I was still not healthy enough to venture out. Plus, I don't like spreading germs. I'd considered calling into my local Trader Joe's, which is kinda my equivalent of “Cheers” in that everybody knows my name. (Too young for that reference? It's an old TV show where everybody knew each other at this bar named “Cheers.”) In my case, “several” people there know my name (not everyone), but you get the picture. Anyway, I knew they'd be happy to do my shopping and load my car, but I really didn't feel like going out. Now, before you say it, I know you might be thinking it, why didn't I have my husband just go to the store? Well, I waited too long to ask him. He picked up dinner last night, but then jumped on a plane early this morning for a business trip. Plus, he'd been doing so much this weekend…his birthday weekend. I felt horrible asking for him to do it. At least we celebrated on his birthday earlier this weekend. It was my son, Blake, who gets the credit for having the foresight to order my groceries online. I think I tried it when it first became a thing. Back then it was not very user-friendly to order online, so I never tried again. I decided to give it a try. Wow! Things have changed. It was SO easy. They even help you get the most of their specials and sales. It was awesome. I ended up saving tons of money on my order. We even got free same day delivery. Cue the choir! It was amazing. Now, I'm a huge fan. After my order arrived and the kids put everything away, I checked my email and saw that they offer a $10 OFF for referring new customers. Perfect! So, here I am sharing my awesome experience with you. It's a great deal actually.
