Nothing Bundt Cake! Spice Cake!

Why make an ordinary round or square cake, when you can make a pretty bundt cake?  Well, I know not all cakes will work as a bundt.  But I get so much pleasure turning out my pretty bundt cake onto my platter.  It just seems so welcoming.  It calls to you to cut it and enjoy it.

I guess that’s why I keep making bundt cakes for the women’s Bible study that I’m hosting.  I want the ladies to be able to partake in this study with all their senses.  The smell of the freshly baked cake, the beauty of its form, the taste of each yummy bite as we sit and enjoy our fellowship and time in the Word together.

So, on that note, here is one of the bundt cake recipes that I made for my ladies — my Gideon Gals!!

Nothing Bundt Cake! — Spice Cake!

Yield: 8-10 

Description

*This is great for entertaining as a dessert or a decadent brunch treat!

Ingredients

• Cake:
• 1 box yellow cake mix
• 1 3 oz box vanilla pudding mix
• 1/4 c white sugar
• 1/4 c brown sugar
• 2 t cinnamon
• 4 eggs
• 1/2 c white wine
• 3/4 c vegetable oil
• 3/4 c water
• Glaze (which is invisible):
• Boil for 2–3 minutes:
• 1/2 stick butter
• 1/4 c white wine
• 1/2 c sugar

Instructions

1. Mix together, then bake in bundt (buttered) at 325 for 1 hour.
2. Prepare glaze as cake bakes
3. Pour glaze slowly over cake while still hot in the pan. Let stand a little while to absorb, then turn upside down onto a cake plate.

Notes

Since we don’t really drink wine, I buy the little bottles that come in a four-pack. They are the perfect amount for this recipe. If there is a pinch more wine leftover, I just throw it in the glaze mix with a little extra butter and sugar. The more glaze the yummier.

& just as a reminder, the alcohol burns off while baking and while cooking on the stovetop. So, you are left only with a unique flavor within the cake.
